buddhism to me is very simple just recite the "let it be" no action mantra, and understand what's middle way thinking, you will be blessed to be a good man, i feel people who write these complicated article, is because occupied by too many concept,--conceptual reflection. Just like, you post this article to enlighten us, i think reading sutras could be very helpful, for who could read chinese sutras, that's the best, very refined, with being equipped by the basic buddhism knowledge, i now like  to read various aspects of buddhism history, different sects.

YOu will have to differentiate between wars, and terrorism.

 

Mankind can understand the philsophy of having to wage war inorder to have peace. It will try all means to avoid it through compromises and diplomacy, but if it is inevitable, then allow it to come to pass.

 

But even in war, there are rules to it and not a free for all melee. Basically, the time, date and location of warzones are officially declared.

 

The weak or children are moved away and kept in a safe location for both sides. There are many other rules commonly accepted thru the ages, than i can list here, read it up and you will be more familiar.

 

If there is a fire in a house, and you are told to get out or you sneak in and died from the fire while firemen are trying to extinguish the fire, you are a 'collateral dammage'.

 

Similar in wars where people gets hurt. They must stay away from combat zones, and not place their women and children there while a fight is on. 

 

But terrorism is not war. It is undeclared, not by soveriegn states, kills and brutally slays innocent men women and children instead of combatants anytime, anyplace and anywhere. This is not acceptable to mankind who had grown civilised.

There are many wars start without declaration, i remember in a tV serial, they said, military commandor declare war with their weapon,  war is not negotiation, you must attack them without being expected.

US attack alot zone surveillance living in, as you said we should attack the combat zone, with military infrastructure, no where surveillance live.

why now in iraq ,and afganistan, so many anti US atmosphere going on, because US treat all the military solider and the surveillance the same, so later the surveillance got self armed, and attack US military,

i don't agree that it is not related to religion. religion is what they use to justify their actions, no matter how misguided they are.

sometimes you don't distinguish whether it's related with religion. I don't believe all of the suicide bomber, all have deep understanding about religion, as i said, there are some techniques to train these people to be attacker, anyway many religious people are blind, they will not listen to what other said.

the terrorist is a different case, they hate the west, because they have been treated unfairly, it's easy to say, let go , when you are not treated like them, and suicide bomber, interesting, i heard some of the suicide bomber actually undergo a some ritual, something like taking drug, like you feel like waking up in a paradise, you can get whatever you want there, then next day you wake up, you wake up in a real world, and you dare to do whatever thing you are asked to do, in order to go to the paradise garden again,

that's why i don't meditate, a lot of disturbance, and seems that ,when someone disturbing you ,you tend to overreact when you are doing meditation, i think someone said, meditation is a attitude,you can meditate when you walking, when you working, but this sought of meditation is not the meditation you are talking about, anyway different people have different view.

there are misunderstandings here, yes, prc donot like to attend the talks ,whatever talks you are talking about, because they have their own world, they prefer to read novel or else, i know many prc who have already publish some novel, they are really good in writing, so let's take the chronicle in NTU as a example, at my time, the PRC are not keen to publish anything on the "chronicle", because they are more capable to publish books, so i guess, the talented writer would not like to publish on a small media like chronicle, and expose their real name.in the chronicle there is a section publish chinese articles. 

And another guy, pennamed"MKX" search his blog on google.

He have been to 60 countries, and write stories on that, get payed by that,

i think they are very capable, but i am not one of them, but one interesting thing about these student or engineer who is in the mean time a writer or jounalist, is that they are self centered, maybe they are not so good in socialising.

The ten commandments in the bible is the most simple and basic values to make your society a good place to live in. Just my 2 cents.

i don't know what you are talking about, i tell you one thing, christian value is a value, confucius value is a value, buddhism value is a value, chinese have it's own value, and i think have deeper meaning than christian value.
